Memberships & Borrowing

Library membership is FREE to all residents of Banff and ID#9. To obtain a library card, please present a piece of picture identification and proof of residency. Proof of residency may include:

  • Driver’s license
  • Lease agreement
  • Phone/Internet/Power bill

Residents of non-participating municipalities (outside Alberta) may obtain a membership for a non-refundable annual fee of $70.00. 
Alberta residents with a home library card may sign up for limited borrowing privileges through Me Libraries.
Please bring your library card with you every time you visit the library. Your card permits you to borrow materials and access online resources.
You do not need a library card to attend library programs, use the Internet, or use materials within the library.
You may take up to 25 materials out at a time. Books, magazines, and audiobooks are checked out for three weeks; DVD’s are checked out for seven days.
You can renew up to two times if  there are no holds on the item. Items may be renewed in person, by phone, or online.
